Is MMI capable of producing my current casting? MMI is capable of producing steel and other alloy castings varying in sizes from 5 ft. tall x 5 ft. wide x 6 ft. deep, weighing 2 lbs. to 1200 lbs. We can fulfill your custom casting order in any quantity specified within very competitive lead times. We maintain a full service pattern shop capable of producing patterns and core boxes and / or mounting and rigging according to customer specifications. MMI’s Engineering team conducts flow modeling and analysis of patterns and castings and completes specified modifications in mold design and performance. We can produce castings with AOD (certified) ingot or other specified alloy. MMI meets all ASTM specifications and maintains an ISO 9001:2000 and PED registered Quality Management System. Please contact MMI’s customer service team for full information. Is my forging, weldment or bar stock turned casting a candidate for a MMI casting? Weldments and Forgings are prime candidates for the casting process depending upon the application and forces exerted upon the part. When a part is subject to complex, multi-directional stresses (as opposed to a single, unidirectional stress), castings are superior to a forging. Castings require fewer process steps and, in general, less production time than weldments and bar stock turned castings. This, generally, results in lower costs and shorter lead times. MMI’s engineering and design team can review your specific application and determine whether a casting will meet your specific design characteristics.
